Hon. Dr. Monica Musenero graces Uganda Agro-Science Park Project Workshop at Busitema University
Today, Dr. Musenero Monica, the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, joined the team at Hursey Resort Hotel for the third day of a project funded by Science and Technology Innovation (STI). The initiative envisions boosting irrigated farming, agricultural trading, establishing an agro-processing hub, enabling food innovation, and improving regional distribution and export mechanisms.
During her address, the Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration between Busitema University and Century Green. She underscored that research and innovation thrive when experts from diverse fields work together. She stated that this project would offer hands-on experience for agricultural students, aligning with the government's demand for innovative products from universities.
Professor Vincent Anigbogu, CEO of JC Quality Management, stressed the significance of integrity in all endeavors. Drawing inspiration from the Book of Genesis, he emphasized that every creation has multiple functionalities. Prof. Anigbogu urged the participants to extract systems from nature, a task best undertaken by professors. He concluded by asserting that the project's success would depend on its ability to deliver on its intended goals.
Professor Paul Waako, host and Vice-Chancellor of Busitema University, welcomed the visitors. He shared his experience of witnessing China's rapid transformation during his visit twenty years ago. Prof. Waako attributed China's advancements to discipline and highlighted the need for Uganda's universities to shift from solely producing graduates to commercializing research and generating products.
Professor Nony Mbeazua, CEO of Century Green, pledged to grow cocoa, combat malnutrition and hunger in northern Uganda, and produce high-quality products that meet international standards. He expressed excitement about the partnership with Busitema University and emphasized the project's aim of adding value to local agricultural products and promoting agro-tourism in Uganda.
